Farmer’s Draw; Last week we held our usual draw for 3 bottles of whiskey for the landowners and the winners were Daniel O Callaghan, Glenagoul, John Collins, Mullintoura, and William Kent, Beneena.
500 hardwood trees were distributed among the interested farmers of the parish last week.
As an extra gesture which will benefit all of us as well as providing feeding for the small birds during the winter months we are offering 1 acre bags (23kgs) of game crop seeds which are suitable for the GLAS and AEOS schemes to interested farmers. The mix contains; Triticale, Linseed, Gold of Pleasure, Mustard, Phacelia, Crimson Clover, Poppies and Corn Cockle. Photos of this crop can be viewed on our web page. We will give the first bag free and the second or subsequent bags we will offer at €20.00/bag. This mix is best drilled in with a corn drill but can be broadcast as well but needs covering after. It can be sown in poor ground, in field corners or one pass around headlands would be very beneficial.
